Obscured behind a wall of vines woven into a chain link fence, unnoticed by the visitors of the nearby parking lot, lies an oasis for students and teachers alike. A garden. This garden has been providing generations of Manual Arts High School students with a space to strengthen their connection with nature, grow their understanding of the community around them, and cultivate a green space to inspire creativity. Through the Chicas Verdes Gardening Club, students develop their understanding of sustainability. In Sharing Roots, past and present students of the Gardening Club share stories of personal growth that made their enthusiasm for nurturing the garden.
